The secret world of Muslim science

1001 Inventions is a new exhibition at London’s Science Museum which will trace 1,000 years of science from the Muslim world, dating back as far as the seventh century.

Running from the 21st January to 25th April, the exhibition will feature a number of interactive exhibits, displays and demonstrations, enabling visitors to explore the scientific heritage of diverse cultures. Groups can also explore modern inventions which can be traced back to Muslim civilization.

With more than 60 exhibits on display, highlights include a reproduction of a ninth century flying device and a six metre-high replica of the ‘Elephant Clock’, as well as numerous electronic interactives.

Entry to this exhibition is free of charge, however GTOs should be note that the exhibition will be closed to the public between the 25th February and 12th March.
