The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Owais Ahmed Ghani has highly appreciated the sympathetic and fraternal spirit of the Dubai based Pakistanis for promptly coming forward to help their flood-affected brothers and sisters in the province and welcomed the provision of Rs.1 million for this purpose as an emergent step. Commenting on this kind gesture of overseas Pakistanis, the Governor said, “It speaks the magnitude of their spirit of patriotism and the God-gifted qualities of humane and sympathetic nature”. The countrymen, he added, greatly regard the role and sacrifices of the overseas Pakistanis towards further supplementing the ongoing efforts of the Government to minimize the miseries of the suffering humanity. The relief and rehabilitation process of the flood affectees who have lost every thing, the Governor said, is a high time and resource consuming and hard and long process and we as a nation have to shoulder this gigantic responsibility with highest degree of self-less spirit, devotion and courage. “We salute all those who are already engaged in this sacred mission in their various capacities especially the ones who are generously contributing their precious time and resources to supplement the government’s efforts and easing the prevailing situation for their suffering brethren. Meanwhile, on behalf of the Governor, a team of senior officials of Governor’s staff including Ali Sher Khan Mehsud, Additional Secretary to Governor, Major Shumayal, ADC to Governor and Waseem Khan Khalil, DSP went to the door steps of each and every such affected family of district Charsadda and Nowshera whose near and dear ones have been lost or injured and formally handed over the financial assistance. The recipients, comprising legal heirs of 18 martyrs and 25 injured of recent floods of both the districts have been given cash assistance of Rs 20,000 on behalf of the Dubai based Pakistanis for each family.
Pakistan Wednesday, September 1st, 2010A 70-member Pak-Turk Organization delegation visited five schools in Gulabad, Tehsil Tangi and had Iftar with flood victims on Monday.
These camps are serving 500 flood victims daily with iftar dinner through National Trust for Population Welfare (NATPOW) with the collaboration of Pak-Turk Organization.
Speaking on the occasion Chief Executive Officer NATPOW, Iftikhar Durrani said, “It is the success of the mechanism established there that at least representative of both organizations has been regularly monitoring the locality for present and further requirement accordingly”.
He said that to make a communal and well harmonized effort for flood affected persons, a National Consortium for flood relief has also been established for connecting collective and coordinated efforts to face this devastation.
The consortium reviewed the current flood situation in Khyber Pakhtunkwa, Southern Punjab and Sindh and agreed to take mitigation measures by developing an action plan to reach out to the communities affected by flood, he informed.
Iftikhar said that NATPOW along with Ministry of Population Welfare has put in place our cost effective, transparent and dexterous model which helps in reducing the administrative expense and has in built reporting mechanism for the purpose of better accountability.
