TEVTA inks MoU to train minorities
Local Friday, October 2nd, 2009In pursuance of the policy of the Punjab government to empower minority communities through imparting them Technical Education and Vocational Training free of cost, an MoU has been signed between TEVTA and Human Rights and Minorities Affairs Department here yesterday (Thursday) at TEVTA Secretariat. For this purpose, the government has allocated Rs 10 million this year.
Internees would be admitted at 457 TEVTA Institutes across the Province.
This MoU was signed by Secretary TEVTA Rafia Nazir and Secretary Human Rights and Minorities Affairs Department Arshad Bin Ahmad. Provincial Minister for Human Rights and Minorities Affairs Kamran Michael, Chairman TEVTA Saeed Ahmad Alvi and other top management were also present.
According to the terms of MoU, all expenses of trainees of minority Communities admitted at TEVTA Institutes across the Province would be born by the Govt. of the Punjab. They will be enrolled on the basis of merit and at 2% reserved quota in addition to merit, after observing all codal formalities in regular courses. They will also be provided opportunity to get admission in one year and short duration courses. They will directly apply to nearest TEVTA Institute all over the Punjab.
TEVTA institutions will provide details of minority students granted admission to HR&MA Department. MoU also explains that Human Rights and Minorities Affairs Department will pay the required fees and other related academic expenditure including training material, stationery, training facilities as applicable time to time on behalf of the admitted minorities male and female students.
