Shahghai Expo to project Sino-Pak close Ties
Business Friday, January 1st, 2010Pakistan ambassador to China Masood Khan has said that the Pakistan Pavilion for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo will not only show the world a combination of Pakistan’s modern and ancient civilizations, but also project close ties between Pakistan and China.
He expressed these views in an interview with China Radio International on the sidelines of a press briefing held at the Pakistani embassy in Beijing.
Masood Khan said that a large delegation from Pakistan will attend the Shanghai Expo, which will last for six months. They will hold a series of events, such as performances by Pakistani cultural troupes and business negotiations.
The ambassador said it is fortunate for Pakistan to have its expo pavilion next to China’s.The ambassador congratulated on the successful celebration of the 60th anniversary of the PRC, China’s swift economic recovery in the aftermath of the international financial crisis and its leadership on global issues including climate change.
Commenting on the relationship between China and Pakistan in 2009, the ambassador termed it a unique, all-weather and time-tested friendship.
On the development of bilateral ties in 2010, the ambassador said that Pakistan expects more high-level visits between China and Pakistan, and a closer partnership in the areas of energy, infrastructure, construction, mining, information technology, telecommunications, agriculture, science and technology, education, culture and sports.
He also hoped for an increase in bilateral trade, which is presently around $7 billion, through inviting Chinese trade missions to Pakistan and sending Pakistani traders to various expos in China.
