Punjab govt incompetent: Governor
General Thursday, February 11th, 2010Governor Punjab Salman Taseer says attempt on the life of former federal minister Sheikh Rashid was conspiracy to get the by-elections in NA-55 postponed but it would be thwarted. The workers would take revenge of attack on him through ballot paper. The inability of Punjab government is behind the incident.
He was talking to the journalists at Lal Haveli, political headquarters of Sheikh Rashid. During his meeting with Sheikh Rashid, the Governor inquired about his health besides offering Fatiha for the deceased who died in the attack.
Salman Taseer said that the incident of Khayban-e-Sir Syed is exceedingly shocking and the federal government also took notice of it. “The culprits could have been arrested, if the organizations in charge being helm of affairs could have shown some responsibility. The attackers were given full chance to flee from the scene”, he added.
Governor said that the Punjab government feels fear from Sheikh Rashid as they sense their clear defeat. His services rendered to Rawalpindi are not hidden from anybody’s eyes. “Maintaining law and order in the province is the responsibility of Punjab government”, Taseer added.
He said that the workers would take revenge of the attack on Sheikh Rashid by balloting their vote in his favour, as whenever the brutality and violence exceeds its limits, people would emerge victorious because they always support truth.
