Pervez Musharraf to Launch Political Career in December
Headlines, Pakistan Thursday, October 29th, 2009Former president Gen. (Retd) Pervez Musharraf is to launch his political career in earnest in December this year, confirmed sources close to him.
Currently in the US on a lecture tour and to meet his son and brother who are settled there, the former President of Pakistan in all probability is expected to land in Karachi in the last week of December. Musharraf, a Karachiite and belonging to Urdu speaking community, is also reported to make the city his political base, considered to be the bastion of people who migrated from India after partition of the sub-continent.
He is also considered to be close to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), a party that stood by him during his eight years rule and derives its strength from Karachi, counry’s biggest city and the economic capital of Pakistan.
