Pervez Musharraf gives legal experts a headache
Local, Pakistan Monday, August 10th, 2009Constitutional experts were yesterday unanimous that no parliamentary resolution was needed to register a case against former president Pervez Musharraf under Article 6 of the constitution.
However, they are unable to reach consensus on whether the Supreme Court verdict against the November 3, 2007 emergency is sufficient to establish a case against Musharraf.
They feel if Musharraf is charged with treason, then others involved in the emergency too should be prosecuted. Similarly, the legal fraternity is also divided on whether Musharraf’s advisers and collaborators should be charged.
