Pakistan govt mulls rupee devaluation

Pakistan’s Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin said that in order to stop the decline in the value of rupee, the exports would have to be increased and imports would have to be brought down.

Speaking to a TV channel, he said the Pakistani rupee would continue to lose its value if there is no balance in the country’s exports and imports. “The government will have to devalue the rupee if the inflation is not brought under control,” Tarin said, adding that the rupee would continue to lose its value if there is no balance in the country’s exports and imports. Tarin said he was in favour of trade with India in order to reduce the gap between imports and exports.
