Kashmiris to continue their struggle for self determination

The UK Kashmir Diaspora observed the
Kashmir Solidarity Day by reiterating their resolve to achieve the
right to self-determination and also expressed gratitude to Pakistan
for supporting their cause.

Speaking
at function ‘An afternoon with friends of Kashmir’, Prof Nazir Ahmad
Shawl, Executive Director, Kashmir Centre London, said the Solidarity
Day is being observed for more than 15 years now.

“It’s
a day of reassurance. On this day, the people of Pakistan renew their
all out support to the people of Jammu and Kashmir who are struggling
for the liberation of their motherland from the Indian shackles and the
realisation of their inalienable right to self-determination.”

He
said Pakistan has remained a dream for the people of Jammu and Kashmir
who believe that their Pakistani brethren will continue to contribute
their intellect, wisdom and support for realization of this dream.

Prof.
Shawl spoke of the continuous violation of the human rights of the
people of occupied Valley and said torture, molestation, custodial
death and degrading treatment and fake encounters are rampant.

“Draconian laws, license to shoot and invasion of privacy continue to remain enforced.”

He
said there is a universal cry for peace in Kashmir but the people of
Kashmir desire peace based on justice.” The people of Jammu and Kashmir
have always welcomed all the efforts directed towards this goal,” he
added.

Others
who spoke on the occasion included Irshad Malik,Democratic Freedom
Party, Raja Muhammad Ayub,Muslim Conference, Prof.Zafar Khan, Jammu
Kashmir Liberation Front,Shahid Dastgir of Pakistan and Khawaja Ilyas
Ayub Tehreek-I-Insaf,Dr.Saboor Javed, Nasir Mehmood Butt and Iqbal
Sandhu,PML-N.
