Kashmiris hold protest rally outside Indian high commission

Kashmiri organisations led by former AJK prime minister Sultan Mehmood
Chaudhary on Saturday stage a demonstration in front of Indian High
Commission here on India’s Republic Day to protest against atrocities
being carried out in occupied Kashmir.

All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), Azad Kashmir Chapter, Convenor
Syed Yousaf Nasim and other Kashmiri leaders participated in the
demonstration. The participants, who were holding banners and placards
highlighting Indian human rights violations, chanted anti-Indian
slogans.

The protesters started their march from Foreign Office
building and gathered in front of Indian High Commission where Sultan
Mehmood and other Kashmiri leaders addressed them.

Speaking on
the occasion, Sultan Mehmood said that Kashmiris all over the world are
observing Indian Republic Day as black day to protest against its
suppression and occupation in Kashmir. “Indian troops deployed in
occupied Kashmir are perpetrating atrocities and gross human rights
violations against innocent Kashmiris,” he added.

He pointed out
that during the last 20 years, more than 100,000 innocent Kashmiri men,
women and children have been martyred in the occupied valley. The world
community should take notice of these grave human rights violations.

Sardar
Yousaf Nasim criticised Indian bid to become permanent member of UNSC,
and said the world community should not support India in this regard
unless it implements UN resolution on Kashmir.

He pointed out
that Indian leadership is using draconian laws in occupied valley and
armed forces deployed there have been given “license to kill.” He said
the Indian leadership should be condemned for carrying out state
terrorism against innocent Kashmiris.
