Kashmir Highway interchange design approved
Local Friday, April 25th, 2008Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Kamran Lashari Thursday
directed officials to expedite work on finalizing plan of over
two-dozen interchanges and underpasses to be constructed on avenues and
highways of the federal capital in the next three years.
During presentation on mega development projects at CDA committee room
which held after office timings, CDA chairman was apprised that the
design of an interchange on 9th avenue at intersection of Kashmir
Highway had been finalized and its PC-1 of around Rs3 billion would be
taken up with the CDA’s Development Working Party shortly. The civic
body is also planning two more interchanges on 9th avenue at
intersections of Jinnah Avenue and I J Principal Road.
Another
interchange, the design of which is also almost finalized would be
constructed to link 7th avenue with Kashmir Highway and Murree Road.
The project has reached the tendering process and award of contract
work.
A CDA official who attended the meeting told ‘The News’
that four to six interchanges and underpasses would be constructed on
upcoming projects of 6th, 10th and 11th avenues. “We will remove all
shortcomings in these projects which were experienced in previous
development works,” the official said.
He said the federal
capital would see hectic development activity in the next three years
and all these projects would be executed from authority’s
self-generated funds.
The meeting was attended by Member
Engineering Mian Moinuddin Kakakhel who is also holding additional
charge of Member Planning and Design, DG Works Abdul Jabbar Malano,
Directors of Roads and other concerned officials of Engineering and
Planning Wings.
Lashari also directed the officials to expedite work on designing of interchanges on Islamabad Highway.
