Indian involvement: Parliamentary committee demands to raise issue with US, India

The Parliamentary Committee for National Security has demanded of the government to raise the issue of Indian involvement in Pakistan internal affairs with India and the United States.

The meeting of the committee was held here on Tuesday with its Chairman Senator Mian Raza Rabbani recommended strict action against elements helping terrorists.

The meeting, which was attended by Sardar Mehtab Khan, Babar Awan, Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, Haidar Abbas Rizvi, Sherry Rehman, Ishaque Dar, Munir Aurakzai and Rehman Malik, was informed about the proofs of Indian involvement in Balochistan and Waziristan.

According to sources, Rehman Malik briefed the committee in detail about the overall law and order situation in the country and also informed about the investigations into terror attacks in Peshawar, Rawalpindi and Lahore.

Rehman Malik told the committee that there are solid proofs of Indian involvement in Balochistan and Waziristan and the proofs showed that India is interfering in Pakistan border areas.

Efforts are being made on emergency basis to improve law and order situation and overcome the wave of terrorism, he said and added that the government is determined to eliminating terrorism and anti-Pakistan elements would not be allowed to succeed in nefarious designs.

Sources privy to the meeting told that the committee was briefed by the interior ministry about the situation in Waziristan and Balochistan, while the committee expressed concerns over Indian involvement in Balochistan and Waziristan, abolishing security check posts from border regions and not restoring the biometric system after its destruction by terrorists.

The committee recommended to the government to take all possible steps for ensuring national security.
