Help urgently required for thalassaemia patient in Pakistan
Local Sunday, August 31st, 2008The parents of Anum Khan, a 28-week-old girl suffering from Homozygous B-thalassaemia, have appealed to philanthropists to help them in her treatment.
According to Armed Forces Bone Marrow Transplant Centre, Rawalpindi, the estimated cost of the treatment is around Rs l.2 to Rs l.5 million whereas the centre needs an immediate deposit of Rs l million to start the process for her treatment. Jahangir Khan, her father who hails from Faisalabad, is a poor worker.
He said one of her daughters, nine-year-old Shabana, also suffered from the same disease and had undergone successful treatment at the same centre a couple of months ago.
