DHA launches new mega project
Local Monday, August 10th, 2009The DHA has launched a new mega project ‘DHA City’ on Super Highway to be developed as a model residential estate of the metropolis.
A statement on Sunday said that the master planning of approximately 12,000 acres of land acquired by DHA has been initiated which encompasses to cover overall environmental aspects.
It said that the DHA has invited applications for allotment of plots in the said scheme which has got “an unprecedented response of the public.” The statement said that a misunderstanding has been created by publication of a news report in a section of press alleging that Sindh Environmental Protection Agency has asked DHA to stop development of its newly launched project on Super Highway.
It pointed out that “the news report is misleading in its essence.” The statement said that DHA held a meeting with SEPA officials and assured them that DHA gives utmost consideration to environmental laws and this aspect would adequately be addressed during the master planning of the scheme. It said that SEPA on receipt of DHA’s response has conveyed to the Housing Authority in writing that DHA has not violated Section 12 of the Environmental Act 1997 by launching the said scheme.
