Corrupt Asif Ali Zardari Someone trying to oust me
Local Friday, October 9th, 2009Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari is convinced that “some elements” are trying to dislodge him from the presidency, official sources said.
“The Kerry-Lugar bill is being blown out of proportion. The President thinks that the controversy is a part of conspiracy to oust him,” a source close to the President told this newspaper.
Pakistan’s powerful Army, Opposition parties and majority of general public have rejected the Kerry-Lugar aid bill proposed by the United States. Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has taken the middle line saying Parliament will take a decision and that the Kerry-Lugar bill will not be accepted without Parliament’s consensus approval. Only President Zardari is of the view that the US bill is the best thing to happen to Pakistan which pits him against the rest of the people except the ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) which he leads. The PPP however, also lack consensus on the issue with many rejecting the bill that imposes strict conditions on Pakistan.
On Wednesday, US assistant secretary of state for public affairs PJ Crowley said that the Obama administration believes that there was no threat to the democratically elected government in Islamabad in view of the Pakistani Army’s public opposition to the Kerry Lugar Bill which is not in line with the official position of the Zardari government.
Presidential spokesman Farhatullah Babar said the bill did not give an iota of impression that the sovereignty of Pakistan or the supreme national interests had been compromised.
Former Pakistan Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said that the proposed Kerry-Lugar aid bill by the United States for Pakistan is a success of India rather than Pakistan.
“It is India’s success. They have been able to influence the US to insert conditions,” Mr Hussain, who heads the former ruling Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-e-Azam), said.
He said India has been successful in wooing the US to include several areas of Punjab as terrorist nurseries in the bill. “These clauses obviously are inserted by the Indian lobby into the bill,” Mr Hussain said.
Talking to reporters here Wednesday night, Mr Hussain said the PML-Q has not rejected the Kerry-Lugar bill outright rather it wants full debate in Parliament and omission of the clauses, which are against Pakistan’s interests.
“Our party is not against friendly relations with the US, however, no relationship is more important than our national interests. We want good ties with the US but not at the cost of our sovereignty and integrity,” Mr Hussain said.
He added, “We don’t believe in opposing each and every step taken by the government, rather we would support positive steps.”

A look on the political history of Pakistan politics can tell the story of happenings to PPP’s democratic Government from Bhutto to Benazir and now Zardari.
The godfather, establishment of this country and elite Punjabi class treated PPP like Dallats. The reason behind this sheer hatred is the challenge PPP posed to the monopoly of establishment and the voice they raised for the downtrodden people.
The sole aim of these forces is to dig out PPP from hearts and minds of people. Now after Z.A Bhutto and BB Shaheed their target is Zardari. The media campaigns, character assassination and conspiracies against Zardari, nothing is new, it is same as ZAB and BB faced.
