Amir Muqam terms 100 days of PPP govt disappointing
Local Wednesday, July 30th, 2008Deputy Opposition Leader in the National Assembly and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid NWFP President Amir Muqam Monday said the government had failed to deliver.
Talking to reporters at his residence, he said the policy of settling the country’s political issues while sitting in Dubai and London would not work. Muqam said spiralling prices had triggered protests and those claiming supply of free electricity to the masses had pushed them to the ‘lantern era’. Muqam termed the initial 100 days of the government as disappointing saying scores of people committed suicide due to price-hike of daily use commodities and even utility stores had raised prices.
“The stock market crashed and inflation is beyond control while the devaluation of Pakistani rupee continues,” he added. Muqam said continued protests across the country showed people’s displeasure over the government policies, adding that the government could no more deceive the masses by passing the onus onto the previous government.
He said deteriorating law and order, unscheduled loadshedding and inflation had exposed the performance of the incumbent government and if the government failed to control the situation then its days were numbered.
